How to make an Android ringtone from a video
Android phones play MP3 ringtones directly, so this takes about a minute.
Steps
- Open Tonecut and tap Choose a video.
- Drag the amber handles to the part you want and tap play to check it. Ringtones can be up to 29.5 seconds.
- Under Save as, choose Ringtone MP3 and tap Make ringtone MP3.
- Tap Save file. The MP3 goes to your Downloads folder.
- Open Settings › Sound & vibration (on Samsung: Sounds and vibration) › Ringtone.
- Tap +, “My sounds” or “Add ringtone”, and pick the MP3 from Downloads.
Menu names vary between phone makers. If there’s no add button, move the MP3 into the Ringtones folder with your Files app; it will then appear in the ringtone list.
A ringtone for one contact
Open the contact in your Contacts app, tap Edit (or the three-dot menu), and look for Ringtone. Pick your MP3 there.
Tips
- Tick Fade in so the ringtone doesn’t start abruptly.
- Start the clip just before the best part. Most calls are answered within a few seconds.
- If the clip sounds quiet next to other ringtones, tick Boost volume.
